“Battlefield: Heart Kingdom” was a solid episode but it felt calmer than the last few weeks. It wasn’t the edge of your seat action that we’ve been consistently seeing, though there was plenty of excitement. Everywhere you look someone is in the midst of battle but the battles were with the Dark Triad disciples. No major threats yet.

There was still plenty of action. It was clearly done to illustrate just how much of a power boost the Clover Kingdom Magic Knights got in the time skip. Every one of them defeated a dark disciple on their own. They’re now in a new power bracket, showing that the real challenge will continue to be the Dark Triad.

The battles may have been quick but there was still a lot of information presented. We now know specifically why the Dark Triad is interested in Yami Sukehiro and William Vangeance. We got to see wolf-mode Charmy; I’m still waiting for a clear explanation on that. Leo clearly has improved greatly in the past six months and not only got a boost in magic but a confidence boost as well.

What I find most interesting about the whole episode though was the few second scene between Asta and his devil. Who does his devil want to kill? The other devils? If so, why? What makes this devil different and why didn’t Dante’s devil recognize it.

Looking back at Dante’s interaction with his devil, it looks like there is a understand between them rather than simply possession. There is a shared goal. Asta is definitely a good person and he hasn’t succumbed to the darker side of of being “devil possessed” even when going berserk. The devils have their own thoughts and goals, so what is Asta’s devil’s ulterior motive? I look forward to finding out.

Until next week!
